GLOSSARY OF GAME TERMS
- ELEMENT
- Generic term given to describe Events, Periods, and Scenes.
- EVENT
- An element to be added to the timeline by the individual player. It describes a major occurrence on the timeline, often in the form of a war, or some other major event. The War in Iraq, The Industrial revolution, Women's Suffrage, The Vietnam War, and The Civil Rights movements are all good examples of Events.
- FOCUS
- A topic that permeates an entire round of play. The Lens chooses the focus, and every player must address the focus with their play during the round. Each round a new Lens chooses a new focus for the round.
- LEGACY
- A Legacy is an aspect of the round that is put on a less that can be chosen to be explored later in the game by one player each turn.
- LENS
- The lens is the character who leads off the round, and as such get's to set the Focus, and must take 2 turns to start the round out, and 2 more turns to end it. The Lens pretty well guides the outcome of the round.
- PERIOD
- The largest chunk of time ascribed to the timeline. It is allegorical to an era in a modern history book and covers expansive spans of time. The Jurassic Era, Biblical times, Middle ages, and The End Times are all good examples of Periods.
- ROUND
- A round is represented by every player taking a turn in the game.
- SCENE
- A scene is the smallest unit of time to fit on a time line. It represents a very specific occurrences, and is explored through role play with all hands on deck.
- TIMELINE
- The record of what happens in our universe, comprised of Elements (Periods, Events, and Scenes) as described by the players of the game.
