The insect-like dromites are among the strangest mortals on Tolomar. Possessing a strong link to the elements and a deep sense of empathy, dromites live in one of the most civic of societies, which they simply refer to as the community. While they are ruled exclusively by the Hive Queen and her Consort (known collectively as the Royal Pairing), these individuals are elected from all dromites and almost universally act only in the best interests of their subjects.

As the war ravaged the land, the dromites buried deep. They dug deep tunnels, systematically seeking out resources that would allow them to survive without the resources of the surface. This proved prescient, as the territory they claimed as their own became the uninhabitable core of the Demonsand Wastes.

The dromites, despite being able to eke out a subsistence living on their own, never forgot their surface allies. Despite the harsh conditions, they retain a presence on the surface, trading with their xeph allies and keeping an eye on any travellers unlucky or foolhardy enough to risk the Demonsand Wastes.

While the dromite are excellent workers, they show little talent with art. Songs, paintings, even sculpture are foreign to the dromite experience. They best see the most functional and efficient solutions to a problem, and have little regard to beauty in what they make. As such, they are amazed by the creativity shown by outsiders, particularly the xeph, who make objects both functional and beautiful. Generous and kind, those they save from the wastes are never asked for money, but they are pleased to hear new songs or stories, and gifting them with something beautiful and functional may earn the community’s undying gratitude.

Classes:
Ranger: Dromite rangers venture out onto the surface of the Demonsands in search of elusive prey, resources for the community and lost travellers. The Wild Hunter archetype appeals to many of these brave souls.
Paladin: While most dromites aren’t terribly spiritual, some see their community as a source of divine strength. These individuals are extremely rare, and view the Royal Pairing as a deity made flesh. The Divine Defender and Holy Guide archetypes are good choices for these individuals.
Kineticist: With predictable frequency, the strength of a dromite’s elemental heritage is much more powerful than normal. These individuals become kineticists, hardening their bodies to channel these powerful elemental forces.
Aegis: The physically powerful dromites serve as bodyguards to the Royal Pairing and as valuable resource gatherers. Though the Trailblazer archetype is popular among the latter, no dromite has ever become an Aberrant.
Cryptic: Seekers of understanding, cryptics serve the community as scouts, engineers and resource hunters.
Psion: The epitome of psychic power among the dromites, they have an affinity for telepathy, psychokinesis, and clairsentience. Their Royal Pairing are frequently psions who show particular talent in those three disciplines.
Wilder: The elemental bond possessed by the dromite sometimes flares in unpredictable ways. The dromite who seek to master these flares of power become wilders, seeking to turn these chaotic surges to the benefit of the community. Those who gain Healing and Leader’s Surge types are particularly valued for the benefits they grant to groups.
