The South is mostly known for its inhabitants skillful animal husbandry; their pigs and sheep are the fattest and wooliest, despite the poor grazing near its border with the badlands. Southern weavers produce finely made clothing, tapestries, and other textiles that are in high demand among the nobility of the Highlands. The queens brother governs the region from the coastal city of Irinoki; Tsarito is another major population center.

The South is also home to the border with the Lower Kingdom. Although the countries are not officially at war, a portion of the army is permanently stationed in the high hills that stretch up into the Southern Mountains. Lately, the soldiers here have been occupied not with foreign belligerents but with horrifying amalgamations of venomous monitor lizards and giant eagles: huge, flying monsters capable of devouring a grown man.
