Few people live in the Badlands, where water is scarce; about half of the people who do are nomads, frequently leading their cattle to new grazing lands. The other half live in Goll and Dvarit, which are the only permanent settlements this far south, and are hardly large enough to be called towns. For Archipelagans circling the island, Goll is the last port town before the long stretch of empty land along the southern and eastern coasts.
