Shifter:

The Shifter is a magic user who has focus their time and energy into learning all they can about the Rifts. They are obsessed with travelling to other dimensions, discovering new beings and worlds, and developing a greater understanding of how these things came to be and ultimately how it all works. Because of their investigations into the supernatural, they have developed the ability to link to an animal, uniting both entities for their lifetime. The Shifter can see through the eyes of their animal, hear what they hear, see what they see, and control their movements. If their animal dies, however, the effects on the Shifter are... less than pleasant.
