Fighters are paid for fighting, but more for winning.
Four tiers of duelists ranked 1-4: novice, apprentice, journeyman, master.
Rules:
- Fight remains within a circle of 12' in diameter.
- No outside forces may influence the fight.
- No effects (magic, poison, or otherwise) may be used on participants before the duel begins.
- Essentially anything goes within the arena, although nontraditional tactics are frowned upon.
- Fought to agreed upon time limit and score on points, except in battles to the death.
- Only tier 4 duelists are allowed to compete to the death.
