Setting and House Rules
Setting
You are members of a guild whose main line of work is to recover lore from ancient ruins. You have been hired by Torinn Silverscales, a noble of a minor house, to recover lore regarding Agito.

Calendar in use:
LR: Light's Reign, (uses Greyhawk Calendar as base)

Campaign Specific Equipment

Sundark Goggles
Price: 20gp Weight: –
The smoked lenses of these goggles block light. They are typically fixed into a band of canvas that  clasps together at the back to keep the goggles from falling off.
Sundark goggles negate the dazzled condition experienced by a creature with light sensitivity while
in bright illumination. Creatures without low-light vision or Darkvision that wear Sundark Goggles take a -2 penalty on Perception checks made to locate objects with vision based senses.
Sundark goggles are especially useful for those with Light Sensitivity.

Pirate Garb
Light ArmourCostArmour Class (AC)StrengthStealthWeight
Pirate Garb45 GP12 + Dex Mod10 lb.

Iconic of virtually all pirates across the sea, this garb sets them apart from most other seafarers. While it may occasionally include thick coats and even solid leather portions for armour, it's primarily intended for general sailing and concealment of items. The visual aesthetics and condition of the clothing can also tell you much about the individual wearing it.

House Rules

Stats, Level and Starting Funds: Level two (2) start. Stats are 8+3d4 drop the lowest d4. 400GP, to be spent on gear. No free gear, except for trinkets from backgrounds.

XP: XP will not be tracked. Instead, I will be using a milestone levelling system. Most milestones will be issued after returning to an area of safety (such as a trader’s post, or allied town), after a successful adventure.

Feats and Variant Humans: All PCs get a feat of their choosing at 1st level. This makes Variant humans non-existent.
HP: HP at higher levels uses average. IE Monk 2 with +2 Con has 17HP (8+2+5+2).

Inspiration: Each PC starts a session with Inspiration. If used for a session, it may only be regained by Claiming a Setback. Claiming a Setback involves either imposing disadvantage on one of your own ability checks, saving throws, or attack rolls based on one of your Personal Characteristics OR make a decision that creates a significant story setback, obstacle, or hindrance. When you want to Claim a Setback, simply ask the GM.
For example: "I’m easily distracted by shiny objects, so I’m distracted by the giant pile of treasure. Can I Claim a Setback and take disadvantage on my saving throw against the dragon’s fire breath?" Or: “This guy wants to help us, but I distrust all strangers. I’m going to be rude and accusatory of him. Can I Claim a Setback for that?” And then the GM might have the stranger refuse to help or get offended or start a fight.

Healing surges: PCs have hit dice + con mod healing surges. They recover a quarter of your hit points, may only be used during rests or as part of Second Wind-like abilities, and you recover your healing surges after a full rest. If you have a d8 based hit dice and a +2 con mod, then you have a total of 10 healing surges per day.
You only use the highest hit dice base. If you normally have 2 hit dice, such as rangers, samurai, etc., then you have the combined dice total as the base. For example, 2d6 becomes a 12 + Con Mod Healing Surge.
Resting: Short rests are 5 minutes, long rests are an hour, and a full rest is 8 hours. Short rest spell recovery uses the new long rest, whereas long rest spell recovery uses the full rest.

Hero Points: Hero Points will be used as described in the DMG on page 264.

Campaign Legal Sources: Except as noted in this guide, the following are campaign legal sources: PHB, DMG Classes and Races, SCAG, Campaign Companions prior to 2015-11-19 and UA articles prior to 2015-11-01. I.E. The PHB and UA Rangers are not legal, the one presented in this guide is.

Your character sheet must include a source and page number for each ability, so that it can be looked up if needed. In the order of legal priority, this campaign guide Fates of Filgaia (FoF) is first priority and supersedes all others; next is the Players Handbook (PHB) / Dungeon Masters Guide (DMG); third, Sword Coast Adventurers Guide (SCAG) / Players Companions such as Elemental Evil (EE); last: Unearthed Arcana (UA).
