We will use the
Vitality and Wounds rules as published by Wizards of the Coast with the following adjustments:
- As suggested in the link above, bonus damage dice from sources such as Sneak Attack, Elemental Weapon spells, and their like shall deal 1 Wound of damage per die on a critical hit.
- Attacks that deal Non-Lethal damage may not deal Wound damage on a critical hit. The entire attack deals 1 point of Wound damage to a creature that has 0 Vitality remaining, and if the damage of the attack exceeds the victims remaining wound points (after subtracting 1) the victim is automatically knocked unconscious.
- Heal spells restore 1 Wound for each dice of healing paid for with MP. Or in other words, the free dice of healing from a cantrip must be used to restore Vitality. Optimized healing spells similarly restore 1 wound per die of healing they traditionally provide. I will deal with the fixed amount spells as they come up and record my decisions here.
- Mooks: This classification of enemy possesses only 1 Wound Point. As a result, eliminating their Vitality or scoring a critical hit eliminates the enemy immediately.
