Var uses two Holy Symbols:
- The first, his more martial symbol, is a sword pointing downwards, over a shield. Fancier symbols of this type often depict a rose engraved into the shield.
The second, is that of the rose itself. It's often stylistic and rounded, and if depicted with a stem it will have thorns. Sometimes, Var's red rose is shown entwined with Annaesiah's blue one. Many of their churches use this motif in stained glass above the alter, or in an icon upon the wall in a similar spot. In the latter case, Var's red rose has a stem of gold with thorns, while Annaesiah's blue rose has a stem of silver without thorns, and both stems collectively form a circle.
Var's eligible Domains and Subdomains are:
- Love (subdomain of Charm), Family(subdomain of Community), Glory and it's subdomains, Good and it's subdomain of Friendship, Loyalty (subdomain of Law), Nobility and it's subdomains, Resolve (subdomain of Strength), and Tactics (subdomain of War).
Var has no patience for Illusion and Summoning spells, Evoke spells that employ secondary effects or ranges beyond Touch. He disapproves of Transform and Compel spells, and Charm spells used for selfish ends outside of combat(id est, making a merchant more pliable, but not making enemies cower in fear).
Outside of spell uses, he disapproves highly of cowardice and collateral damage. While he enjoys the tactical elements of warfare, a battle settled with combat by champions also attracts his favour. Stories of his antics reveal that he has a soft spot for a good romance, as well, blessing the works of authors and the efforts of young lovers equally (doubly so if they are defying their parents, for Var believes that anything worth having, is worth fighting for).
Var's relationship with his siblings are as follows:
- He hates Sin'ghaele with a passion, but nobody is precisely sure why that is.
- Kadvak frustrates him. They get along well, but Var wishes his brother would let go of his materialism and focus on more important things (according to Var). Kadvak in turn tempts his elder brother with "the finer things in life" often.
- Faerini and Var have a friendly rivalry. Down through out the ages she has gotten the best of him many times by being more ruthless, but she cannot win a straight fight with him. It is said that when Var first fought their father, Faerini was the first of his siblings to join the fray.
- Tulanto and Var are incorrigible when they're together. Good hearted mischief, fine works of art of every sort, and a good deal of newlyweds are often the result of their shenanigans.
- Annaesiah is Var's closest friend and confidant. Var fights willingly and readily to protect that which he cares for, while his younger sister mends the damage done and works to prevent any more. The majority of Celestial beings are their children.
- Shar'sholan and Aer'thosia have no meaningful relationship with Var, though he has been forced to destroy the monsters the Twins birth on numerous occasions.
- Zsar can't stand Var's idealism, and Var cannot stand his brother's "pragmatism" as the younger sibling calls it. They inevitably end up arguing if they are in the same room for any length of time, but have never come to blows.
- Var spoils and indulges Alara, but has on a few occasions reigned her in. He is curiously busy elsewhere whenever Alara plays a prank on Zsar.
- Var feels responsible for what happened to The Watchers, who are greatly diminished and trapped in the Mortal World. Unable to help them, he channels this guilt into fervor for the struggle against their father.
