The Mystics

While the roles and the duties of the other Great Kingdoms has always been relatively straightforward, the Sawtooth Oak has always been something of an enigma. Founded by the Fey Kirndashi, the most mysterious of the children of the Sun and Moon courts, the Sawtooth Oak was founded with the purpose to watch over the rest of the Kingdoms, and watch they did. For more than one thousand years, the Sawtooth remained almost entirely apart from the other Kingdoms, engaging them in battle rarely and in court only slightly more frequently. Few could claim to understand the Sawtooth or their motivations, at least until the Fey War, when at last the Fey Kirndashi, still alive in spirit if not in flesh, led the early days of the campaign against Dan-Kyl, when the other Kingdoms were still at one another’s throats. The Sawtooth suffered significant losses during the Fey War, and even more in the years immediately following, but for the first time they truly gained the respect of the other Kingdoms.

Most other Great Kingdoms suffered significantly during the Destroyer War a generation ago, but by the time that conflict erupted, the Sawtooth were already in a precarious position. A previous conflict, a diversion enacted by the Destroyers to confound the Kingdoms known as the War of Dark Fire, laid waste to entire provinces of the Sawtooth lands, and the kingdom narrowly escaped destruction. By the time the Destroyer War proper had concluded, the Sawtooth were in the early stages of recovery, and as such were appointed by the Druids as responsible for overseeing the activities of the nobles of the other Kingdoms. Four families serve the clan in the fulfillment of this and other duties:

The Mandel are the lords of the land and the practitioners of the two-blade style.
The Trevelyan represent the land in court and serve as its magistrates.
The monks of the Turned Leaf order are the teachers and philosophers of the land.
The Druids serve as priests of the forest spirits and guide the land spirituality.

The Sawtooth are the uneasy stewards of the nobility, having been entrusted with their supervision by the Druids. It is only just, the Sawtooth reckon, for the Fey was once one of them. Who else could they entrust with such a task? It has not been a simple matter, however, and in the face of growing evidence that the nobles are responsible for highly questionable things, the Sawtooth must accept that their charges may have deceived them, and in doing so dishonored them by association. It is not a fate that the Sawtooth will accept softly.

There are few men in the Kingdoms stranger than the Sawtooth Oak Champion, Landis Mandel. Jointly trained by the monks and Druids, the man called the Laughing Sawtooth is one of the most well-known and oft-reviled men in the land. His failed engagement to the Bur Oak Champion has caused many to look upon him with great resentment, but Landis understands that fate has something grand in store for him and his land. He simply does not yet know what it will be.

Style

The Sawtooth love the dragons.  Every Sawtooth tries to incorporate dragons into the clothing they wear, if it is a scaled pattern, or wings or the dragon itself, they will make use of it in the clothing.  The clothing is usually layered as they live in a very high region of the land, the Six Spines Mountains can be very cold and wet.  The armor they choose to wear is usually scaled, but can be adorned with items such as wings or draconic helmets.  The two sword style they use means two swords are traditional to be worn by a warrior.

Monks of the Sawtooth will shave the head and dress in a more simple style.  The tattoo art of the Monks is what will set them apart.  They will adorn the body with art and mystic tattoos that when activated will enhance the monks ability to fight.

The Mages of the Sawtooth follow a very clear code of color coordination according to the nature of the magic they follow.  Various different schools follow different colors, a mage must were the color of the school they follow.
