The M249 Light Machine Gun is the American adaptation of the Belgian FN Minimi, a light machine gun manufactured by the Belgian company FN Herstal (FN). The M249 is manufactured in the United States by the local subsidiary FN Manufacturing LLC in South Carolina and is widely used in the U.S. Armed Forces (it's the US Army's default machine gun). It is chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO and accepts STANAG magazines, allowing it to utilize a wide variety of magazine sizes as well as disintegrating belt ammunition. The standard Morrow Project issue of this weapon includes belt ammunition, but STANAG magazines can be supplied upon request.

Note: This weapon appears in the d20 Modern product Weapons Locker, but the statistics there are incorrect regarding weight.
