40mm grenades can deliver a variety of different payloads. The ones available to Morrow Project personnel are listed below.

40x46mm Grenades

M433 40x46mm HEDP Grenade
Damage: 3d6*
Damage Type: Slashing
Burst Radius: 10 ft
Reflex Save DC: 15
Size: Tiny
Weight: 1 lb
*This grenade ignores 5 points of hardness when fired at an object or structure.

This is a 40mm combination round with fragmentation combined with an anti-armor capability. The round explodes on contact, sending fragments through the burst radius.

M576 40x46mm Multiple Projectile Cartridge
Damage: 4d10
Critical: 20
Damage Type: Ballistic
Range Increment: 20 ft
Size: Tiny
Weight: 1 lb

This is a 40mm shotgun round. It was designed to give the soldier carrying a grenade launcher a powerful cartridge for close quarters combat such as found in clearing buildings, bunkers, and trenches, as well as thick vegetation.

This grenade functions similarly to a shotgun. Like shotguns, reduce the damage of this projectile by 1 point for every range increment of the attack.

M651 40x46mm Tear Gas Grenade
Damage: Special, see below
Damage Type: -
Burst Radius: Special, see below
Reflex Save DC: -
Size: Tiny
Weight: 1 lb

The M651 is a CS gas (tear gas) grenade containing 53 grams of CS mixture. See the tear gas grenade entry for additional rules.

M713-M716 40x46mm Smoke Grenade
Damage: -
Damage Type: -
Burst Radius: Special, see below
Reflex Save DC: -
Size: Tiny
Weight: 1 lb

This collection of grenades produce a great deal of opaque smoke used for signaling and providing a visual screen for maneuvers. See the smoke grenade entry for additional rules. The designation of these grenades is based on color: M713 (red), M714 (white), M715 (green), and M716 (yellow).

M1006 40x46mm Sponge Grenade
Damage: 3d6 nonlethal
Damage Type: Bludgeoning
Burst Radius: -
Reflex Save DC: -
Size: Tiny
Weight: 1 lb

The M1006 launches a solid foam "sponge grenade" at high enough velocity to wind someone or in extreme cases perhaps even break bones.

M1060 40x46mm Thermobaric Grenade
Damage: 2d6
Damage Type: Fire
Burst Radius: 20 ft
Reflex Save DC: 15
Size: Tiny
Weight: 1 lb

The M1060 is a thermobaric cartridge, which means it is designed to destroy targets through a combination of intense heat and forceful overpressure (better known as "concussion"). The M1060 was developed in order to give grenade launchers a far greater effect against static targets such as bunkers, houses, and masonry. See the white phosphorous grenade entry for rules on additional damage in subsequent rounds, smoke, and catching fire.

40x53mm Grenades

M430A1 40x53mm HEDP Grenade
Damage: 3d6*
Damage Type: Slashing
Burst Radius: 10 ft
Reflex Save DC: 15
Size: Tiny
Weight: 1 lb
*This grenade ignores 5 points of hardness when fired at an object or structure.

This is a 40mm combination round with fragmentation combined with an anti-armor capability. The round explodes on contact, sending fragments through the burst radius. It is very similar to the M433, but designed specifically for the Mk 19 Grenade Machine Gun, and the two are not interchangeable.

M1001 40x53mm High Velocity Canister Cartridge
Damage: 4d10
Critical: 20
Damage Type: Ballistic
Range Increment: 20 ft
Size: Tiny
Weight: 1 lb

The M1001 is a canister round filled with 115 17-grain 2.0-inch long flechettes. The choice of fin-stabilized flechettes over pellets or similar projectiles for the high velocity ammunition is most likely a product of their greater accuracy over slightly longer ranges. Functionally similar to the M576 shotgun round, the M1001 is designed specifically for the Mk 19 Grenade Machine Gun and the two are not interchangeable.

This grenade functions similarly to a shotgun. Like shotguns, reduce the damage of this projectile by 1 point for every range increment of the attack.
