Glamour and Quintessence

Because we want to keep the number of dice rolls down, no roll is required to figure out how much dross or tass is left in an object. The ST will include this information for the players.

As a general rule, Glamour can usually be converted to Quintessence, but not always the other way around. Mages can use dross as if it were tass. Mages may help convert tass or Quintessence into forms more easily absorbed by changelings, but this requires the use of Prime. However, a work of art that creates Glamour for changelings wouldn't be source of Quintessence for a mage.

Changelings with Fae 5 can attempt to transmute the nature of tass to dross (or Quintessence to Glamour) with Primal 5. Alternatively, the player may roll a number of dice equal to the number of Quintessence points available, difficulty equal to her Banality + 4. Each success converts one point of Quintessence to one point of Glamour, up to the character's Glamour rating. Any remaining tass/Quintessence will be lost.

Any freehold that provides Glamour can be used to regain Quintessence instead, but note that drawing Quintessence directly from a freehold runs the risk of Bedlam (magical insanity). For each point of Quintessence drawn this way, roll a dice (difficulty 10). Each success indicates that the character progresses one stage further towards Bedlam.
