Roland Decap grew up in a rough district of Coruscant, where local law had been usurped by the powerful Van Owen crime family. Roland didn't just escape these conditions though, he thrived in them, working his way through the rank and file thugs in the family's employ, to becoming their chief enforcer. Roland spent years tracking down snitches, snuffing out rivals, and shaking down anybody who thought that they were above the Van Owen's personal "law", and he was rewarded richly for his service.

Then, something changed. The details remain sketchy, what is known for sure is that there was a brief period of internal turmoil, as the old patriarch died, and his eldest stepped up to the throne. Some people say that this wasn't amicable, that his younger brother had contested his rule, and that there was a culling of disloyal lieutenants, but nobody knows for sure.

Whatever happened, Roland was kicked out, and all the favour he had earned with the previous administration in the Van Owen ranks has evaporated. So now he's out here, sifting for scraps like the rest of us. But Roland has skills few possess, and he's determined to build himself back up bigger than ever, perhaps even be part of a new criminal empire, out here on the fringe.

Roland isn't a young man. His hair is more grey now than black, and he doesn't quite have the reflexes he used to. He has to make up for that with a lifetime of experience. He is fashionable, but leaning towards well made and well fitting than trendy or gaudy. He's also missing many of the creature comforts he was used to, leaving a life of luxury has left a bitter taste in his mouth for 'common' accommodations.
