Renovation:

The following rooms can be renovated to greater levels of status and power, allowing for greater use and ability.

What are the benefits of a higher level Workshop? Well, it confers a higher-quality bonus upon those who work in it. (This counts as a base 5% bonus to Item-Construction jobs. In addition you can create higher-type armors. Level 2 Workshops can create Type 2 Armors. Level 3 Workshops can create Type 3 Armors. There will be other hidden facets to this that will only be made known to individual players as they create these workshops and come across specialized metals and certain situations.

Requirements to Renovate:

You must have already Constructed the Room in question.
Renovation consumes Stone.  It requires the New level X 5 in Stone Materials in order to renovate a room.
At least 1 x Unit Equipped with Construction Tools.

Throne Rooms automatically come with an internal intelligence network, initially everyone -- obviously, began with a map of the region... well bucko that was about all the 'intel' you had. As your throne room improves, so too does your intelligence network, in the form of people, external rumors and a few other things.

Renovating Defensive Structures.
Renovations alternate in their bonus -- adding 5 points of obscurity and then 5 percentiles of defense.

Yes, this means you can REPAIR your obscurity and not only REPAIR it but BUILD IT UP. If something repairs your obscurity, it only brings it up to your lair's current maximum (100 + current iteration of defensive structure.) If something BUILDS your obscurity, it actually adds points of obscurity.

NOTE: RENOVATIONS DO NOT COUNT AGAINST THE 'ITERATIVE' COST OF ROOM CONSTRUCTION!

Renovating: Throne Room, Workshop, Defensive Structures, and Prisons improves their capabilities, as well as unlocks hidden benefits.  The Maximum renovation level of these rooms is 10.  (Workshop is 3.)
