Origin

"I'm not saying it was a great childhood, I'm saying it was an awesome one. My parents were smugglers and con artists of decent skill and means. They weren't making the kind of money that lets you retire early, but they kept themselves out of cages, so I guess that made them better than most. All the spare parts I could want, duping the authorities left and right and never living on a planet? Tell me how that could have been better? Okay, so MAYBE it would have been nice to have more than just my parents around... Maybe would have been a whole lot nicer, but maybe then I wouldn't have gotten as good as I am at talking to machines. Not literally. I don't literally talk to machines. What was I saying? Right, people. Yeah you could say I was raised a loner. Not saying I still am one now, just that my socialization was a bit odd. Nah, back then it was mostly just me and Whisker. That's my drone. Built him myself out of an old reaper AI I found... Yeah that was a joke..."

History

"All fairytales come to an end. Even Shepard had to pass away. My parents went the way of the common criminal I'm afraid. They got greedy. It always starts with wanting more than you got. Nothing wrong with that. That's how the world kinda runs. On people wanting more than they have. The second part is what got them, and what really gets most dumb thugs and crooks who think they are just too good to fuck up. They got lazy. What's better than making money? Making easy money. Hey, don't worry, it's not a sore spot for me. My parents stole from someone you really don't want to steal from. They took their bet and lost in a permanent fashion. The shadow broker always collects their due.  Now I remember this next part very clearly. I'm sitting at my desk working on my good friend Whisker. I've mentioned him right? Anyway, this strange asari lady just walks right into my room, waltzes in like she owns the place. And being all of 13 and her being real pretty even for asari I'm betting she could have convinced me she did own it, and that I was just lost. Anyway, she sits me down real calm and explains the situation. My parents are dead. They were stealing. So on and so forth. I stay calm, I'm rather wise for my age so I had more than an idea that this had been coming. Still. I cry. But only a little mind you. Then I ask her if they have a job opening. I think I must have thrown her for a loop there as she took a bit to answer. She asks me why I'm looking for a job just after my parents are dead and I'm still sitting next to the person who did it. And I say well they may have been my parents, but they were also my employers, everyone needs to make a living. She just kinda stared at me for bit, then she started laughing. She must have thought I was funnier than a volus gymnast because I have never seen her laugh like that since. Her name was Veera, and she pretty much became my guardian/handler as I worked for my new employer and its been that way ever since."

Motivations

"I don’t hold a grudge against the shadow broker... I actually have a lot to thank them for, and that is more than enough for me to have their back whenever they need me. And Veera too, she doesn’t show it, but I think she had become rather fond of me over the years. I have the feelig that she would kill me in a heartbeat if she needed to, but also that she would feel kinda bad about it afterwards. Which is pretty big for her. I’m not the same as her, if push came to shove I don’t think I could pull the trigger on her. Not like I’m squeamish or anything, I just can’t imagine a situation where I would be happier with her dead. Same with the old broker. I don’t know who they are or what they look like, but they have been real good to me and I would return the favor any day. Now listen. Don’t go telling people I’m fine with working for the people who killed my parents. That kind of stuff really rubs people the wrong way and everyone already thinks I’m strange enough as is. I don’t think any of them would really understand.”
