A Divine_Mantle is a official blessing attributed by the Gods when a man or woman has given the supreme sacrifice to the glory of the Faithful.  Such individuals are venerated as religious icons by the adherents of the Pantheon.
[OoC: IRL would call these people 'Saints', this world knows them as Ascended Masters]

Ascended master embodies the of the long reach of the will of the Aposta Invictus; the Leader of the Imperial Pantheon. By venerating icons of sacrifice followers of the faith are give a person to relate to and a cause to aspire toward. Some who bear a Divine Mantle are very minor in stature, only revered in a single city or town, while some may be found wherever Imperial rule extends.  Others may be associated with certain aspects and particular causes, such as Technology or Innocence. Some are specialized, watching out for those that work with ill-tempered Ogrun, for example. This means, regardless of the situation, there is always an icon that watches over the faithful and over those to whom the faithful offer a prayer of protection. A truly devout petitioner might take no chances and festoon themselves with the symbols and tokens of many Ascended Masters. A prominent place is held in the Imperial culture far beyond their religious connotations.  Their names can be found on everything from streets and children. Often something that is akin to a saint's cause bears their name, such as a warship called The Attala (of which there are dozens in the Athosian Navy).  TO so name the ship embody the hope it will gain some of the fierceness of its namesake.

Taking all of this into account, an Ascended Master may form an important part of an Imperial citizen's life.
