Home Security

At the moment, Netherworld offers the possibility of basic security for your holdings.  Longer term, we may add more military options, and enable the building of Military Strongholds.  But that won't be for a while yet.   You need a home or a holding before you can buy Home Security.

Packages

These packages are the easy way to add security to your holdings, they can be upgraded to a higher level by paying the price difference.

Security Officers - Cost 1 credit.  A small office, and live-out security guards to watch your home  and business during business hours. (4x Security Guards).

House Guards - Cost 5 Credits.  The office is upgraded to a guard post, 2 small bedrooms and a basic living area, support four house guards.  (4x House guards & 4x Security Guards)

Basic Fortification -  Costs 10 Credits.  Adds a Gate House and an Armoury, as well as 5 Senior Guards, one of whom is a sergeant and manages your defences.  (5x Snr Guards, 4x House Guards, 4x Security Guards)  The armoury contains a few (low value)  ‘extras’  such as crossbow bolts, darts, clubs, caltrops, etc.

Rooms

These rooms are normally 4x5' squares -  but they cost twice as much as other small rooms, because the walls doors and window shutters are strengthened and reinforced.

Security Office - Literally just a simple office to act as a base for your security staff.  Unlike the other rooms in this list, the Security Office is not a reinforced room and costs (and looks) the same as any other office.

Guard Post - In Netherworld this is just a room by the external door, to house your door staff and guards.  It comes with ‘live out’ door staff to cover daytime and evening shifts - there are normally two door staff on any given shift.  This does not change, even if you add House Guards.   For  worlds with an open sky, this could be at the top of a tower, although in Netherworld, it will be by an external gate.

Gate House - Not the massive edifice of medieval castles -  just a simple hallway with gates at both ends, which makes it easier to control access to your holding and can act defensively, if required.  Guards can shoot crossbows from the Guard Post into the Gate House.  Note: You may only have one Gate House in your Netherworld holding.

Armoury - Somewhere to keep weapons and armour for your guards. It is also used to repair and maintain equipment, and has a small stock of minor equipment (Darts, Light Shields, Clubs, Caltrops) to help complement your security, if required.   A normal armoury can equip a single unit of guards, while an enhanced armoury can equip two units.   Note: In Netherworld, you may only have one Armoury in your holding, without specific permission from the GM.

Bedrooms - Live-in guards sleep two per small bedroom, sergeants and officers have a room of their own.  In an emergency, each room can sleep twice as many guards.

People

There are three types of security guard available to you.  All NPC warriors are (Str:12, Dex:12, Con:12, Int12, Wis:12, Cha:12)

Security Guard - these are L1 Warriors dressed in Padded Armour + Light Shield (wooden), with a light mace and dagger.  They are a presence to direct, and keep an eye on, visitors and customers - rather than to provide an active defence.  They are more of a deterrent than anything else.  (You may change their equipment, but cannot exceed 15gp per head)

Security Guards are ‘free’ with a Security Office.  They live out, and only come into work when they are on duty.  They work two shifts (morning and evening) and there are generally two Security Guards on each shift.

House Guards - these L2 Warriors are a step up from simple doormen.  Dressed in Studded Leather Armour, with a Glaive and Dagger.  They are much more intimidating than doormen and 'live-in' to provide round the clock protection. (You may change their equipment, but cannot exceed 35gp per head)

A unit of House Guards, comes free with the 'House Guards' upgrade.  They live in and are supported by four Door Staff, who provide daytime support.

Senior Guards - these L3 Warriors oversees and manages your security forces. They complement your House Guards, and are supported by Security Guards.  They come free with the 'Fortification' upgrades.  They are equipped with Leather Armour, Light Crossbows and Daggers.
