The Lost Marsh
Located east of the city, the Lost Marsh is a toxic wasteland filled with decaying swamps, radioactive cesspools, and toxic air.  Prior to the Great Cataclysm, the area of the marsh was home to two fuel processing facilitates owned by large multi-national fuel corporations.  The destruction of the cataclysm caused major spills, explosions, and leaks at the plants which leveled the nearby buildings and forever tainted the soil, air, and water with toxic chemicals and radioactivity.  Entering the marsh without an environmentally sealed anti-radiation suit will result in the slow decay of ones body – if the acidic fumes that hang in the air don’t burn out a traveler’s lungs first.

Near the centre of the marsh are the two ruined skeletons of the fuel processing plants.  Overrun with years of growth from local and alien flora the nooks and crannies of these two metal skeletons are rumored to be home to any number of demon, faerie folks, and supernatural creatures.  No one who has ventured to the centre of the marsh has returned to verify these reports.

Travel through the wetlands is hazardous as many of the underground fuel lines now sit covered in a thin layer of bog water creating numerous sinkholes and pitfalls that are not easily detected from the surface.  Animals in the marsh are highly mutated and no good for eating, while some alien life forms that thrive in the wet, acidic environment pose significant danger to an unprepared adventurer.  Most of the marsh water and vegetation is still saturated with fossil fuel residue causing a poisonous, and flammable, gaseous fog to hang over the entire area.
