C-12 Heavy Assault Laser Rifle
The standard weapon of the infantry is the C-12 heavy laser assault rifle, a sturdy and reliable rifle that can survive a great amount of combat abuse and activity without mechanical failure. The rifle has three settings, one S.D.C, and two M.D.C. settings. The rifle can also be set to fire a single shot or a burst of five. Comes standard with a passive nightvision scope and laser targeting. An alternate scope with thermographic vision, passive nightvision, and laser targeting is available, but not common. It is called the CM-5003.
Weight: 7 lbs (3.2 kg)
Mega-Damage: Setting one (single shot): 2D6 M.D. or Setting Two (triple pulse): 4D6 M.D.
S.D.C. Damage: Setting Three: 6D6 S.D.C.
Rate of Fire: Aimed, burst, wild; see Modern Weapon Proficiencies
Effective Range: 2000 feet (610 m)
Payload: 20 M.D. blasts from standard E-Clip or 30 from a long E-Clip, plus another 60 can be added with one E-clip canister, a new Coalition invention. Note that six S.D.C. shots equals one mega-damage blast.
Laser Targeting: Add + 1 to strike on an aimed shot.

C-14 “Fire Breather” Assault Laser and Grenade Launcher
A popular, new over-and-under heavy infantry weapon with high marks for durability and reliability in action. A laser comprises the top portion of the weapon and a pump-action grenade launcher is fitted under the laser barrel. Standard issue includes a passive nightvision scope. An alternate under barrel arrangement is to use a high explosive cartridge pump launcher (essentially a modified grenade launcher) and there is also an under barrel shotgun is essentially a broken down C-1014.
Weight: 12 lbs (5.4 kg)
Mega-Damage: Laser is 3D6 M.D., Grenades 2D6 M.D. to a blast area of 12 feet (3.6 m)
Rate of Fire: Laser - Single shots, or bursts
Grenades: one aimed, four fired in rapid succession (burst if all at same target, wild if sprayed into an area).
Effective Range: Laser is 2000 feet (610 m).
Grenade Launcher is 1200 feet (365 m).
Payload: Laser is 20 blasts, Grenade Launcher is 12.
Reloading the Launcher: Requires one full melee, 15 seconds, to manually reload the grenade launcher. As always, reloading an E-Clip takes about five seconds or equal to one melee action/attack.
Note: An E-Clip canister can not be added to this weapon. An energy canister backpack or hip pack, however, can. It's connector replaces the E-clip, but each Canister E-Clip provides 60 shots.

Optional: Replace the Grenade Launcher with one of the following:

C-10 Light Assault Laser Rifle
The C-10 light laser rifle is an earlier version of the C-12 and greatly resembles the heavy laser. The only difference in appearance is a longer barrel, a lack of the triple pulse setting, and there is a built in computer enhanced laser targeting system. It was a favorite designated marksman rifle and is known for its accuracy and durability in the field. While the rifle is excellent, there is a problem with the computer enhanced targeting system. It is not as reliable as the weapon itself and is known to fail after rugged action in the field (1-23% chance every time it undergoes strenuous combat, 1-40% after a hard fall). The experimental targeting system was too touchy and has been scrapped from all later weapons. It led to the development of the CM-762-Mark VII Precision Scope. The CM-5002 is now standard issue on the rifle, with the older scope only used by those who refuse to trade up for the newer scopes. Designated Marksmen will sometimes use the C-10 with a Mark VII scope.
Weight: 5 lbs (2.3 kg)
Mega-Damage: 2D6 M.D., no variable settings.
Rate of Fire: Single shots, or bursts
Effective Range: 2000 feet (610 m)
Payload: 20 blasts from standard E-Clip or 30 from a long E-Clip.
Laser Targeting: Add +3 to strike on an aimed shot, but only when the laser targeting system is functioning. No bonus when on the blink.
Note: An E-Clip canister can not be used with this weapon. An energy canister backpack or hip pack, however, can. It's connector replaces the E-clip, but each Canister E-Clip provides 60 shots. Not commonly used.

CM-940BR Battle Rifle
By 101 PA, the Coalition States Military Command had long since recognized that it didn't have an effective ballistic option short of the various rail guns used by the military. The first options were basically modern made assault rifles with Saboted Light Armor Piercing rounds. 5.56 NATO and 7.62 NATO were the two most common rounds used for this. While this was a good stopgap measure, Command decided that they needed a much more robust design.
In it's search for reliable and man portable ballistic options for its military forces, the Coalition States has done exhaustive research on every known caliber of ammunition. It was decided that while Saboted Light Armor Piercing rounds were preferable to normal ammunition, this was not a good long term solution. Instead Coalition engineers designed a round from the ground up to fit their needs. In the end a new round, a 9.4x51mm round was developed, base on a pre-rifts big game hunting round. Designed as SLAP from the start, this round was never intended for civilian applications. Still a non-SLAP version exists, mostly for ISS use. The penetration and force of the round was comparable to the damage of a C-18 Laser pistol! From there it was a simple matter to develop a battle rifle around the round's performance.
Another pre-rifts design, pulled from the secret databases of Chi-town, was chosen as the basis of the new rifle. A bullpup design with a stock inserted magazine and a rail on the top, and a smaller rail in front of the trigger. Some juggling and retooling of components was needed to convert the design for the new round, but in the end the engineers had designed a very capable battle rifle. It has a selectable rate of fire for single shot, three round burst, and full auto. The full automatic fire mode was considered ill advised, however, due to the vertical lift on the barrel. Still in three round burst fire mode, it was able to accurately put every round on a single target within a 20 mm diameter circle, and keep doing it for the entire contents of the 48 round magazine. The three round burst put it on par with the C-12 for damage and penetration, making it a perfect fit for the military.
It was released in 103 PA, and by 104 PA had even found purchase in the armories of the CS Navy, but only in small numbers. So far the Black Market hasn't reproduced the rifles themselves, but they are producing an explosive round based on the normal round.
Weight: 13.8 lb (6.2 kg) empty
                15.5 lb (7.0 kg) w/ loaded magazine
Maximum Effective Range (w/out scope): 1650 feet (500 m)
Maximum Effective Range (w/red dot scope):  2610 feet (800 m)
Damage (Regular Ammunition): 1d4x10 SDC per round, 3d4*10 per 3 round burst
Damage (SLAP or Light Explosive Armor Penetrator Ammunition): 2d4 MDC per round, 4d6 MDC per 3 round burst
Rate of Fire: single, or 3rd bursts (when aimed at the main body all three rounds will hit the target)
Payload: 48 round magazine
Note: The weapon is extremely well balanced and has revolutionary venting systems that makes it very accurate when fired in single shot or three round burst mode (+1 to strike). In full automatic mode, these bonuses are lost as the complicated venting cannot effectively get rid of all of the barrel lift. The black market light explosive armor penetrator rounds tend to foul the barrel more than the Coalition SLAP rounds, and thus require double the amount of maintenance time.

CV-212 Frequency Variable Light Laser Rifle
The latest in the Coalition States' military armory; developed by Chi-Town and currently available only to troops in the Coalition States of Chi-Town, Missouri, and Lone Star. The CV-212 and its robot cousin CV-213, are designed to overcome laser resistant armor. A microchip in the weapon's computer will automatically analyze an opponent's armor (if not already preprogrammed into its memory) and after one melee round (half damage) will adjust to the light frequency that will inflict full damage.
The CV-212 is not yet a standard weapon and is presently limited to special operatives and the infantry divisions of General Ross Underbill. It is a sturdy and reliable rifle that can survive a fair amount of combat abuse and activity without firing failure. However, M.D.C. damage is likely (80% chance) to disengage the computer analyzer and frequency adjustments must be made manually (takes 1D4 melee rounds to find the optimum frequency). The rifle can also be set to fire in a single shot mode or a burst of five. Comes standard with the CM-5002 scope.
Weight: 8 lbs (3.6 kg)
Mega-Damage: 2D6 M.D.(single shot) or 6D6 M.D. (Triple pulse)
S.D.C. Damage: Special damage setting: 6D6 S.D.C.
Rate of Fire: Single Shot, Triple Pulse, or Burst fire
Effective Range: 2000 feet (610 m)
Payload: 20 M.D. blasts from standard E-Clip or 30 from a long E-Clip, plus another 40 can be added with one E-clip canister, a new Coalition invention. Note that six S.D.C. shots equals one, light, mega-damage blast.
Laser Targeting: Add +1 to strike on an aimed shot.
CM-28 Tranquilizer Rifle
This is a lightweight bolt-action rifle designed to fire a tranquilizer dart. Its effective range is about half that of a normal rifle. Due to it's silent operation (it's powered by air pressure built into the round), it is now favored by the I.S.S. and many C.S. Special Forces. Produced by GAW, WI, and many other small time manufacturers.
Weight: 4 lbs (1.8 kg).
Damage: Tranquilizer will render its victim unconscious within 1D4 melees unless he saves vs non-lethal poison. Even if the save is successful, victim will become woozy in 1D4 melees, making him -2 to strike, parry, and dodge and -10% to skill rolls for 4D4 minutes.
Duration: Effects last 4D4 minutes.
Range: 800 feet (244 m).
Rate of Fire: Aimed fire only.
Payload: One Dart
