Aula

Overview

A dexterous and acrobatic Aasimar Rogue who was forced to deal with great abuse as a child. Somewhat insane, and still in her late teens (19 in Aasimar years, 54 by human reckoning), Aula has a wide breadth of skills and experience that belies her young appearance. She is an immature psychopath who takes joy in murder, and channels violence even while making love.

Background

Aula was born to unknown parents over fifty years ago, and was abandoned in the center of a
human city for reasons that have also never been explained. For an Aasimar, she is still
young, but by human reckoning, she should have become an adult long ago.

Aulas fall from grace can be tracked directly back to the woman in charge of the orphanage.
A kind and gentle lady named Karrisa with a flawed view of family that would eventually damn
both her and Aula. As a young woman, Karrisa had been a difficult child, who made many poor
decisions. She was always getting into trouble, drinking, drugging, and participating in
every sin she could get away with... but after she had her first child, she suddenly turned
her life around. Thus began her obsession with putting innocent children in the arms of
troubled women. After all, if becoming a mother turned her life around, why shouldn't it work
for everyone else?

When Aula showed up on Karrisa's doorstep, all swaddled in gold and glowing with the holy
radiance of her kin, Karrisa believed it a message from the gods! Aula had barely arrived,
before Karrisa placed the babe with her sister: an addict who had yet to overcome her own
demons. Such a child, blessed with holy light... if anyone could cure her sister, than surely
Aula could!
The child was neglected, and after only a few months, Karrisa was forced to remove her from
the home. So began a long series of such trials... some succeeded, most failed, but all ended
with Aula being returned to the orphanage... and for a child to be so young for so long by
human standards, she was the "gift" that kept on giving. Karrisa gave little thought to
Aula's needs. To her, she was simply a weapon that Karrisa could wield in her quest to
"correct" the downtrodden of the city.

For a long time, Aulas own innate goodness; the positive energy that coursed through her veins,
compensated for the abuse. As she grew older, she even came to try and accept her "role" as the
redeemer child... but the decades wore long and hard on her spirit, and one fateful night, as
she was returned yet again after spending time as the "daughter" of a local cutpurse... she
snapped. In the dark of night, she drifted down to the kitchen, drew a knife from the rack,
walked upstairs, and stabbed old Karrisa in the heart. Again, and again, and again, until the
old hag was dead. It was the first time the young woman had ever felt happy.

Aula's spirit had finally broken.
