Heroes in their own time, these groups or single entities have shown such great prowess in their fields; that they have developed special and unique talents and capabilities in their own right.  Found traveling abroad, they often sell their services to warlords, commanders, and wizards with the available coin to sate their lust for power, fame, and fortune.

Enter the Uniques.

Like Extras, each Unique Unit is exactly that: Unique.

Unique Units are named groups or Single-Entity individuals that offer their services when found all around the region.  Similar to Extras, each Unique Unit has either a Special Ability or a Unique Ability that sets them apart from other Units.

Special Abilities: These abilities often mimic spell effects or other minor abilities.  These are not unique to the Unit themselves - but, typically can only be initiated by the Unit.

Unique Abilities: As the name suggests - these abilities represent the namesake of the Unique Units themselves.  They are completely Unique and cannot be replicated or mimicked by other Units.

Unique Units can be found in a number of ways:



Like Extras: Unique Units are rare throughout the Game World, and are all Unique (as the title suggests).  Once they have made an offer to someone, whether they are recruited or ignored: they are removed from the list of potential Unique Units that can be found: for the rest of the game.  They are never 'recycled' back into the population pool: even if let-go from your Usurpation.

Shield Bearer (Tier1): So long as this Unit has Shields equipped, it does not suffer any reduction to its Stats as a result of PAX loss.  In addition, it increases the value of any Shields equipped by +10 Defense.


When Unique Units are first discovered they begin at Tier1.

Once Unique Units reach level 10, they can upgrade - up to Tier4, through some hard work and a simple ritual.  Once you gain 3XP (beyond level 10), the Unit may spend a week meditating in the lair.  In addition to this cost, you must sacrifice an HQ Gem with a value of 2x the new Tier (so going from Tier2 to Tier3 would require an HQ Gem worth at least 6 GP.)  At the end of the week, the Unique Unit will upgrade to the next Tier and gain all the appropriate benefits from the improved ability.
