The Raven
- One of the beggars speaks to Cibor and Ace as the bard approaches, somewhat to the beggar group's rear and flank so they do not react to him. "Croven? More like ya craven, ya lugs. Can't fightcha own ba'les? Can't help the small folk wicha shiny armah and swoards? Need us to do ya dir'y work?" One, who appears to be much like the original beggar, pokes a finger in Cibor's chest. "Jus' anudder sell-sword who don' giv'a'shit 'bout the commanahs who'r' doin'da suffrin." She turns to the group, eyes meeting Harapan's for a moment, before she looks to the other beggars. "Buncha prisseys want'n glorah 'n cohn, thinkin' dey cahn't dai." Her wrapped hand outstretches, one of the original coins Argond had given her sits blackened. The Death Mark now appears on it as she holds it to Cibor. Her voice transforms from the commoner's grammar to a low, raspy voice. "Marked and known you are, Cibor Lawek, son of Olda Lawek." She pushes the black coin into his hand, wraps her cloak around her, and does a quick spin. In a whirl, the crone transforms into a flock of black birds which fly away in various directions.
"The Crow!" one beggar cheerily exclaims. "No, the Raven!" another says, fearfully. "The Raven!" several voices mutter.
- The beggars scatter, seeing little more opportunity here, many shaken themselves by the events they've just witnessed. Some mutter more about "The Raven" as they leave. Harapan knows the creature to be like a swarm druid, an entity that can turn itself into a swarm of a certain creature - in this case, ravens. A druid here seems unlikely, and the raven motif seems that it would be very connected to The Raven Queen. Whether or not this is true might take some digging.

- When the question arises about what exactly that spectre was, Argond sighs and shrugs. "Alas, I know nothing of this Raven. There's certainly nothing about it in Merveidt's Baleful Bestiary. But, I have seen the name once before." He draws a yellowed, folded piece of parchment from his travel pack and turns it over hesitantly in his hands, then carefully unfolds it. "This is a letter from my old arcana tutor in Bellbridge, Magus Olario. Any of you are welcome to read it if you wish, but it's a bit... long-winded. He was that way. The part of interest to us is when he writes:" He clears his throat and begins to read aloud, "Ancient rumblings centuries-dead seem to rise. Something stirs in the Underdark - I spent some time below when I was younger, some three centuries ago. Little did I realize then the evil that was to be released - but barely contained by myself and those who were brave enough to face The Kronatar and The Raven. I go to seek truth on what now rumbles afresh." Argond stops and looks to the others and says fearfully, "That's all he wrote on it... Sounds ominous."
