The Village Hidden by a Waterfall is a located in the Land of Waterfalls*. At the centre of the village is a large tree on an island, surrounded first by a lake and then by the village. Under this tree is a pavillion where the Hero Water is distilled. Access to this chamber is strictly controlled. The village can be entered through caves beneath the village or through the Wall: a thick, snaring forest with tony meandering paths that more often lead you out of the village than into it.

Taki is currently under the leadership of Takinoue Boumaru.

A few years ago the Shikitei and Asuka clans attempted to remove Boumaru from his position by force. The coup failed when part of the Asuka clan betrayed the conspiracy. Now the two clans are mostly dead or in exile, except for the few Asuka loyal to Boumaru, and the village's number of active shinobi is dangerously diminished.
