Guiding Principal

If you read nothing else in this wiki, read this: This is a roleplaying game. It is not an arena game, a wargame, or a mathematical exercise. We are here to share a story, and the rules are a framework to support and develop that shared story—the story is not a framework for the rules. If you cannot suspend your disbelief enough to immerse yourself in the game world, using the rules as a vehicle, rather than the reverse, then Freehold is unlikely to be fun for you.

For ease of accessibility to players and visitors, this section of the wiki is broken down into small sub-articles, linked to the right. Each of these small articles handles a specific rule or set of related rules with which players and applicants must be familiar. Don't be intimidated! It might look like there's a lot, but it's really because it's spread out into multiple links (and a lot of this is the usual stuff everyone is familiar with from most good play-by-post games).

Above is our most critical rule, and below are two of the other really important ones that should be available at a glance.

Source Material

This campaign operates on the Pathfinder system, within the Forgotten Realms campaign setting. Nearly all published Pathfinder material is available through the unofficial SRD. As it is generally the most current resource, this website will usually be the final arbiter for rules questions requiring a hard-and-fast answer.

GM/Player Contract

The GMs hold ourselves to all of the same rules to which we hold players, including posting rates, announcements, conduct, and so on. While there may be times when a GM slips up unavoidably, we always try our best to avoid doing so and, in the event that we do, will always make an effort to seek amends. We never ask anyone else anything we don't expect of ourselves, and we try to keep our expectations within the realm of the fair and reasonable. We are very approachable, and will always attempt to address your questions or concerns as quickly and fairly as we can, but only so long as we receive the same courtesies in return. Freehold and its community have no use for players who don't have the time or maturity to do so, but we will stick by good players until the game comes to an end or we can no longer continue. This is our pledge, as GMs, to you.
