Maruna is believed by some to be the goddess who created the world and all living things in it; for this reason, she is often referred to as the "First Divine," although this claim has never been proven (and is debated among theologists). She is occasionally seen as a goddess of the home as well as nature, and many people have small shrines dedicated to her either in their dwelling or close by, in an open area.

Priests of Maruna are often mistaken for or grouped together with druids, since they preach the sanctity of life and the brotherhood that should be shared between man and beast; adherents believe that all were created by the Mother of the World, and are thus siblings worthy of respect and love. Her faithful often vow never to carry weapons, and instead train to disable and disarm those who may cause harm to others, before taking them into custody to reform their destructive ways.

Churches dedicated to the goddess are often cycled to depict the four aspects of the Mother during the changing seasons, usually portraying her as a being that is quick to anger and equally quick to forgive, but always compassionate.

Dogma: All things have a purpose, no matter how grand or small—life is precious, whatever form it may take. Respect the world and all that inhabit it; to disrupt life is to invite corruption.
