Verb Tense, Length of Posts, Use of Text Colors, Using the Dice Roller, etc.
- There's no need to write multiple paragraphs for each post, but please aim to post more than a few words or a sentence or two. Give the rest of us something to work with.
- I strongly prefer third person/past-tense. I can endure present tense if you simply aren't able to adjust to writing in past tense and I feel that your contribution to the campaign is worth the inconsistency. Writing in first person, however, is right out.
- All out-of-character discussion should occur out of character indicated by the color orange, or through a private line.
- You do not need to post speech in a different color, as long as you know how to use quotation marks to indicate where speech begins and ends. Unspoken thoughts should be written in italics.
- You are allowed and even encouraged to make your own rolls using the dice roller. The results of rolls -- whether made at my request or on your own -- should be stated in orange in your post. Make a single roll for each action; if you fail to state the reason for the roll in the Dice Roller or failed to include the correct bonus, do not make a second roll to add such a statement or add the bonus -- just put that information in your in-game post when you state the result. (For example, say something like this: "16:24, Sun 10 Feb: Bob rolled 12 using 1d20+6. I forgot to say that was for my Hide check, and I misentered my bonus -- I actually have 8 ranks. So the total is 14.") Re-rolling makes it look like you are fishing for higher rolls, and it gives me heart-burn. If I see multiple rolls of that nature, I will require you to use the first roll -- especially if it is lower than the second roll.
- I do not fudge rolls (though I often may want to do so).
