Fenerkoy

Along the western coast of the Land of Sands, north of Zaratal, lies the port of Fenerkoy an ancient settlement built by a somewhat tranquil bay.  As a location was providing safe access to the ocean, this area became populated and kept active even amoung the nomadic desert elves.

Perhaps the most notable landmark other than the bay, is the ancient tower that houses a large magically burning beacon atop it.  Over time, a defensive palisade encircles much of the proper portion of the settlement, its strength enhanced by clay being baked skillfully across it.  To the north and west within the wall there is large swaths of well worn land with which there are usually tribes of Desert Elves set up temporarily with their tents.  There is a small inland lake which feeds into the bay and collects precious water from the nearby land.

This region is known for its strong winds.  The area north of Fenerkoy is known for its frequent sandstorms from the east as well as water spouts coming from the west from over the ocean and pulling water west over the land for a distance.  These storms however indisputably powerful, always seem to be limited in size.  Although there are rumors or legends of storms more like hurricanes, no elf still alive in the area recalls anything larger than a few miles wide.

Due to the influx of water to the north, which tends to flow down and rest in the lake inland an a little south.  The areas north seems to fare far greater than most of the land of sands as far as agriculture.  The area southeast, near the inland lake, due to irrigation also fares very well.  This port surprisingly relies far less on agricultural imports than many.  Especially for one along the  coast of the Land of Sands.  Food prices are not typically higher, as frequently is the case in cities or within the desert.  It is not a particularly great place to unload agricultural goods for profit, although there are always buyers none the less.

The walls have been clay forged by a small clan of dwarves whom have settled in the region and have taken up the charge of the city guard.
