This is the wiki for the Fractured Dominion, a game and campaign setting which uses Fantasy Flight's Genesys rule system.

This campaign setting is set mere centuries after the human race revolted from slavery at the hands of the Enslavers. The long and bloody revolt ended in the human victory, but the newly freed people's struggle from barbarism into civilization is what this campaign setting chiefly deals with.

The standard timeline of this game is in a period that parallels the beginnings of the Renaissance in Europe. Games are possible in the periods before this, which would be akin to the Dark Ages of Europe, and games are possible in the periods after this, which would most likely be parallel to the Islamic Golden Age in the 8th-14th centuries, and the Ages of Exploration and Sail.

In tone, this game is a Low Fantasy setting. Magic is rare or non-existent, though superstitions would have you believe otherwise. Magi are wise men and women of decades of study, not practitioners of the dark arts. Makers are gifted artisans and craftspeople, not supernaturally talented artificers. Wars and battles are waged with men and women, with swords, shields, bows, and firearms, with horses and supply trains. It is my hope to create a grounded experience, though the Genesys system does tolerate the inclusion of magic very well.

This setting is born from a desire to explore the in-between places of more established settings. Fantasy, Modern, and Science Fiction settings are plentiful. I want to explore a world in the midst of Renaissance; often times it is the gap between Fantasy and Modern.
