The Arcane Library at Ispahan holds almost every spellbook in the world. It is a monument to the power and prestige of the Nandari wizards and magi. Rumor has it that, within its secretive confines, over ten thousand books are kept, holding collectively the arcane power that has allowed the Nandari empire to become the most powerful nation in the Madani region.

Premise

The players will take on the role of a small group of thieves who have been hired by an anonymous employer with the goal of relieving the wizards of Ispahan of one of their carefully guarded spellbooks, an item so valuable that many of the major powers of the world would be willing to go to war if they thought it would give them even a chance of getting their hands on one. Each spellbook is thought to hold the key to the technology of arcane writing, and if other people outside the Nandari empire began using this new, mysterious form of magic, it could unbalance the entire political structure of the world. If these thieves succeed in their goal, anarchy and war could well follow. If they fail, Nandar might become unstoppable and successfully conquer the entirety of the world.

So the stakes are high, to say the very least.
